OUR MISSION

ECOHAB is where Ecology meets Adaptive Design through Education and Action.

We build ecologically beneficial habitats for all people. These structures are autonomous from conventional infrastructure and create self-reliance and independence.

We believe that power, water, heating, cooling, and safe spaces are basic human rights. All of these needs are provided within the ECOHAB model.

ECOHABS nurture both people and place.

We construct community centers, schools and homes in partnership with paid local labor alongside the generous contribution of donated foreign labor. This collaborative approach benefits communities while fostering a sense of unity between locals and international volunteers.

Within the cultural context, we provide accessible education programs and on-site training opportunities that empower individuals in need to become skilled builders and designers.

Through our work, we envision a world where adaptive design becomes a force of positive change, enriching lives, healing the planet, and strengthening communities with education and employment.

OUR PROCESS | HOW WE GET THERE

  • Find the Place

A location where it is difficult or impossible for people to obtain the basic necessities for survival.

  • Property

An appropriate piece of land where the project can be built.

  • Design

Create a plan that responds to local climate, culture, traditions, and materials using our 9 fundamentals.

  • Permitting

If required, talk to local officials and file applications to obtain a build permit.

  • Partnership

Engage with local nonprofits who have a positive history in the immediate area.

  • Funding

Host educational workshops, private donations, fundraising platforms, social media, grants.

  • Execution

Locals are employed where possible and international volunteers are invited to donate and join us in our mission.

Every project is absolutely unique and based on identifiable need, local culture, available materials and unforeseen challenges.
