Stay warm with us this winter on a farm in Hawaii by joining our next workshop in January, 2025!
Workshop Details:
Who,What, where, and When?
From January 6th - 31st of 2025 ECOHAB is partnering with a non-profit organization known as Rainbow Bridge, Hawaii for a month-long workshop. RBH’s vision is described as: ”The Rainbow Bridge community continually deepens their connection to each other and the land while holding a space for outsiders to experience empowerment, healing, and transformation through events, programs, and volunteer opportunities.”
Located north of Hilo, Hawaii on an 85 acre off-grid farm, this collaborative workshop will aid in the construction of a healing temple based on the Greek temples of Asclepius that will be centered around dream therapy. This project will utilize a tire foundation, hyperadobe, ferro-cement vaults, volcanic stone and pumice, bottles, cans, plastics, and other locally sourced materials. The building will focus on thermal mass cooling and will include a small solar electric system in addition to a catch-water swimming pool with a waterfall.
How?
Workshop participants will help the ECOHAB crew construct this temple and are provided with two classes per week. The classes will be focusing on building techniques and philosophies, as well as some Asklepian therapy techniques. The cost of the month-long workshop is $1200 or $350 for a single week. Camping is provided with toilets and showers on the farm. Two meals a day can be provided to participants for an additional $40 a day on working days.
Why?
This building will serve the RBH non-profit and the local community. Anyone will be welcomed to utilize it for free when it is complete.
This workshop is an opportunity for ECOHAB to experiment with alternative materials as well as providing the opportunity to improve our overall process with our workshops and classes. General donations to ECOHAB are always welcomed, but ECOHAB will not be fundraising nor taking any donations for this project aside from the workshop signups.
Spend a month of learning, living, and lounging in the beautiful Pacific islands. Cool off under a waterfall after a hard days work while eating farm fresh food. There will also be optional weekend group activities and excursions. We have a limited number of space for workshop participants so sign up today to reserve your spot!
